Mountaineering Club 2025 and 2026

Fall Semester

Meeting will all be at OTEC - near the corner where the dirt road heads toward O’oma, we’ll do a workout together and then cover mountaineering education date. There are 3 on location hikes scheduled. You are responsible to get yourself to the location. Participants under 14 years of age must have an assigned adult with them for Hikes. Minors in middle and high school can attend the meetings by yourself, those in elementary school need an assigned adult to attend the meetings. The attached sign-up/waiver/commitment form must be completed before participation.

Meeting Dates/Topics and Hikes:

October 13 - Introduction to Mountaineering

HIKE October 25 - Kealakekua Trail to snorkel (anyone can join)

October 27 - What’s in your Pack - go through items that should

be in a pack from day hike to overnight trip

November 10 - First Aid Essentials/CPR

HIKE November 15th - Puuwaawaa (anyone can join)

November 24 - Ropes and Knots

December 8 - Intro to Rapelling 

HIKE December 20th - Mauna Kea visitor center to Summit

meet at visitor center 6am (must have hiked 10+ miles before and

been to the top of the summit and know you do not get altitude sickness)
