Class Meeting location OTEC Picnic Tables - we’ll do a workout together and then cover mountaineering education date. You are responsible to get yourself to the location. Participants under 14 years of age must have an assigned adult with them for Hikes. Minors in middle and high school can attend the meetings by yourself, those in elementary school need an assigned adult to attend the meetings. The attached sign-up/waiver/commitment form must be completed before participation.

Meeting Dates at OTEC beach park at first corner before bathrooms

OTEC Meeting January 26 - What’s in your Pack - go through items that should, 3-4pm OTEC Picnic Tables

HIKE Saturday January 31 Kealakekua Trail to snorkel 8am trailhead (anyone can join)

OTEC Meeting Feb 9 - Ropes and Knots and Intro to Rappelling, 3-4pm OTEC Picnic Tables

HIKE February 8th - Pu’u Wa’a Wa’a Trail to Summit - 7am trailhead (anyone can join)

OTEC Meeting March 9 - How to use a compass and map / How to use gps trail apps

OTEC Meeting March 30 - Trail Nutrition and Hydration tricks

HIKE April 12th - Long shoreline on Alakai Spencer to Waikaloa (pick your mileage) Roughly 2-11 miles, plan will be based on those participating and their ideal mileage. Probably start early or mid day to sunset.

OTEC Meeting April 13 - Level 2 First Aid 

OTEC Meeting April 27 - Dream Hikes, Off island Hiking

HIKE May 30th - Weather dependent - Mauna Kea visitor center to Summit

meet at visitor center 6am (must have hiked 10+ miles before and

been to the top of the summit and know you do not get altitude sickness)
